Stage: Feasibility and Design/ Construction Package

Drakes are a family run jewellery store, which began in 1950 in Plymouth. Drakes decided to expand their store and were looking at turning 4units on the first floor of the Drake Circus Shopping Centre into one large store. Crayon was approached to put forward various feasibility options for the interior layout and store frontage.

The brief was to make sure the store felt welcoming, was customer focused but also had a wow factor. The new store needed to move away from crowded, darker, cluttered jewellery stores of the past. Drakes were looking at creating two main areas for their customers; a branded store and a store specialised in engagement/ wedding jewellery.

Crayon created a double entrance in the shape of a ‘D’ representing the Drakes brand, allowing two stores to become one. Maximising the double height space at the front of the store. Crayon concentrated on bright, open spaces, which would be easily accessible to the customer. Using quality materials and elegant finishes. Crayon worked with Parify Lighting to showcase the diamonds and other products in their best light and SWS Ltd, were the contractors on this build, who did an excellent job bringing this project to life.
