Planning & Listed Building consent secured

Crayon has secured Planning & Listed Building consent to change the use of this fantastic property back into a family dwelling. We have the expertise to know what the local authority requires to approve sensitive works to listed buildings.

Dating back to the early 1800s, it’s incredible to think it would have been standing whilst Napoleon was in Plymouth Sound, & Austen’s Pride & Prejudice was first published.

The restrained detailing is typical of Regency architecture, unlike later Victorian examples that have a more ornamental aesthetic.

The house was originally a family home & later became a guesthouse until Freedom Fields Hospital used the building as a radiology centre. A mental health charity then took possession of the building until 2021.

The property now has new owners, & we have worked together on designs to bring the building back into use as a handsome 5-bedroom family home with off-street car parking & private gardens.

It’s been a pleasure to learn about the history of the building & see how adaptations have been made over the years to suit different functions. It’s a very special, quite unique property and will make a beautiful home when refurbishment works are complete.
