Planning Approved in Cornwall

19th September 2025

We’re delighted that planning permission has been granted for the transformation of an end-of-terrace home in Cornwall. The project reconfigures the layout to suit the house’s orientation, with a new porch extension & veranda to the east, external steps & a reworked garden terrace with improved boundary treatments. A replacement garage with larger parking area & solar panels will add both practicality & sustainability. The works also include re-rendering, new windows, roof slate renewal, & upgraded insulation, bringing more light, a better flow, & improved energy performance while remaining sensitive to the home’s character. #crayonarchitects #plymoutharchitects #planningapproved #cornwallhomes #architecture #extensions… Read More >

Partner Andrea presents at local Guides group

4th July 2023

Yesterday evening Partner Andrea spoke at a local Guides group in Plymouth about her role as an architect. The group included 10-14yr old girls whose activity was ‘dream big!’. Andrea used RIBA activities to compliment a talk on Master planning & what makes a ‘happy place’. Types of building & facilities needed in a town or city were discussed, along with how you feel within these spaces. We used shape templates to create the new city! Activity can be found here; https://www.architecture.com/…/learnin…/learning-at-home# Thank you for the invite @lizzibethshew #crayonarchitects #plymoutharchitects #guides #womeninconstruction #womeninarchitecture #nextgenerationofarchitects #happyplaces #citiesforpeople #jangehl #riba #architectureathome #katiekennedy… Read More >

Flat refurbishment overlooking Plymouth Harbour

29th June 2023

Refurbishment works continue on these 3 prominent flats overlooking fantastic views of Plymouth Harbour. Crayon secured Planning approval for this property in The Barbican Conservation Area in 2019. The top floor flat will be extended vertically with a contemporary steel, zinc & glass structure. The building dates back to the mid 20th Century, & was council housing stock (later taken over by Plymouth Community Homes) & now in private ownership. Where the existing roof has been taken down this has revealed past… Read More >
